India awaits Ronaldo with excitement

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nasr will play in India in what is said to be the biggest match in the history of Indian club football.

Indian football has been in a state of excitement since the draw for this year's Asian Champions League '2' (ACL 2) tournament. If all goes well, Cristiano Ronaldo will touch the arrow of Indian football in this tournament!

Al Nasr did not get a place in Asia's top club tournament AFC Champions League Elite this time. The Saudi Arabian club will play in the second top tournament ACL 2. Previously known as the AFC Cup.

This time, Al Nasr's group partner is Indian Super League team FC Goa. The tournament draw was held on Friday. In Group 'D', these two clubs are FC Istiqlal of Tajikistan and SC Al-Zawra of Iraq.

Not only this group, but the main attraction of this tournament is Al Nasr this time and it goes without saying that it is because of Ronaldo. Apart from him, there are stars like Sadio Mane, Joao Felix, Inigo Martinez. But Ronaldo's appeal is on another level.

After the draw, FC Goa CEO Ravi Puskur spoke about the thrill to the news agency AP.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for FC Goa. Hosting Al Nasr and Cristiano Ronaldo is arguably the biggest match in the history of club football in India."

According to the CEO, this is also a big opportunity for Indian football to make its mark.

“This is a historic moment for Indian football. We have come here on merit and matches like this give us an opportunity to show that we can compete at the continental level and be part of the larger narrative of the sport.”

“This is also a unique opportunity to bring Indian football to the global spotlight. Most importantly, it will spark more interest in Indian football among sports fans across the country and bring football to the limelight, which has been needed for a long time.”
The draw and the opportunity to play Ronaldo's team come at a time when Indian football is in a major crisis. The new season of the Indian Super League was supposed to start next month. But the league has been suspended for now due to complications with the federation's commercial partners' agreements.

However, the chief executive of FC Goa believes that this battle with Ronaldo's team can be a huge medal in the club's progress.

"The financial tide is certainly important, but if you look at the bigger picture, this is a big opportunity for us to build ourselves in the long term. With global attention, sponsor interest and fan involvement, such matches will further strengthen the club's foundation and create future investment opportunities."

Although the tournament draw has been made, the schedule of matches is not yet finalised.
